Not so Catchy Artist Bio

Hey Everyone! I'm currently a 5th year undergrad student majoring in Studio Art at CU Boulder. I switched my major from International Affairs just as of last year. International Affairs was fun and all but there were so many requirements to it that i did not enjoy about it so I thought I'd rather pursue something I fully enjoy than something i half halfheartedly enjoy. I've been an artist ever since I could remember, from drawing stickmen and monsters when i was 6 to crazy drawing ideas of aliens when i was around 10 to 11. I would go in and out of drawing throughout the years (whether it was an artist block or simply because I was too lazy to draw) but after high school I really re-ignited my love for drawing as it became a really useful coping mechanism for my anxiety and depression and would always calm me down or distract me from stressful days and so on. This later developed into my own personal art style that reflects my anxiety and depression and is a means of releasing it to the world and is a means of me trying to get rid of that stigma of not talking about your mental problems to others. I believe communication and getting the word out IS important because you are not alone out there since countless others go through somewhat of the same thing as you, and with me making my art, I feel like I'm telling others that it's okay to be open with your problems, it's okay to reach out and share those experiences because you are not alone on it. Wow okay did not mean to go that deep on that subject matter but going back to my art, my medium consists mostly of pen and ink, although i do experiment with different mediums like pencil and even digital drawings (the colorful weird one is digital and was done on a free drawing program, Speedypainter, if you ever want to experiment with digital drawing, that program is a great way to start). My goals with my art in the future is to ultimately become a freelance artist and do art commissions to whomever needs/wants it and just really have my whole-hearted passion for art become a fully fledged career. With all that said, I am really looking forward to be learning new methods i can apply to my current art style and also getting to know all of you guys during it :) Lets hope I get off the Waitlist soon!
